Survivor Series kicked off in incredible fashion with two fantastic semi-final matches and it was a clear hint that once Roman Reigns would defeat Del Rio to win the first set of matches WWE had set up the final we all wanted when Dean Ambrose defeated Kevin Owens in the second semi-final.
So the main event would consist of the two former Shield members and best friends Ambrose and Reigns. Another great match that was kept at the highest standard of entertainment for the whole duration of the match, really making this Survivor Series one of the best in a long time. The match finished with the bookies favourite Roman Reign picking up the victory after a spear to Ambrose and Reigns would be crowned the new WWE champion. However the night wouldn’t end there, even the most loyal Dean Ambrose fans would have felt sorry for Reigns when Sheamus would cash in his Money in the Bank after emotional celebrations. For a brief moment it looked like Reigns might survive the match but Sheamus would quickly put an end to all hope with a Brogue kick. It was exciting but hard to watch in a way, it was really emphasized how close Reigns has come in the last year, and lets be honest he has deserved it, Reigns has been one of the top performers this year.
What will this set up now? Sheamus will now become part of the Authority and will most likely go up against Reigns for the title at TLC in December but will Ambrose also be involved? Perhaps not but he will be at his brother’s side in what will be a rivalry with Sheamus and Triple H.
Undertakers match wasn’t as exciting or as gripping as you would have expected but it wasn’t about the style of the match, this was just to celebrate the occasion of Undertakers 25 year legacy and seeing him back with Kane. Rightly there were no close falls, no upsets or controversy, that’s not what Survivor Series was for.
The traditional Survivor Series 5-on-5 elimination match wasn’t the most star studded match up but was one with good entertainers and performers. An entertaining match but with a disappointing ending, once the match became 3 on 1 after Sheamus was abandoned by the New Day, it provided the perfect opportunity for the Celtic Warrior to gain momentum and make an impact again, something that he has been lacking for a while now, so much so that the WWE universe are struggling to see how Sheamus is going to fit into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture. We want to see Sheamus at the top but he is being made to look like a chump with embarrassing smack talk and performances in which he struggles to even stand against the likes of Kalisto and Jey Uso. Of course we would later discover on the night that wouldn’t be a problem anymore.
